Age is just a number but it’s a number that can hang heavy above us and affect how we feel about ourselves. As time goes on, fine lines and wrinkles form and a loss of facial volume or hollowing can cause sagging jowls and deep lines. Are you ready to turn back the clock? Or, perhaps, you’ve always dreamed of having fuller, luscious lips or more defined cheekbones. Whatever your goals are, injectables are an effective way to rejuvenate and restore your appearance without the expense and downtime associated with invasive surgery. Here at NuAGE Laser, we offer Dermal Fillers and Botox to help you achieve a more youthful look in a matter of days.
Calling Doctor Jones…
Dr. Steven Jones began his journey into healthcare in 1999 when he graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. He then opened a private practice in Kamloops in 2000. For over 17 years, he worked meticulously, providing his patients with prolotherapy, or proliferation therapy, which involves injecting a solution into a joint space, ligament or tendon insertion to stimulate the body’s natural healing response to relieve pain and improve ligament laxity.
With his extensive understanding of musculature and anatomy, aesthetic medicine was a natural and effortless progression. Dr. Jones was among the first to launch platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy in Vancouver in 2012 and he remains an industry leader. He brings more than 17 years of injection experience to NuAGE Laser & Skin Care and offers Dermal Fillers and Botox.
The “Advil” of injectables, neuromodulators, such as Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Myobloc, are often referred to by patients as “Botox.” While they’re all in the same family of neuromodulators and they work similarly to produce identical results, the difference comes down to the molecular structure and efficacy. Botox Cosmetic was the first approved treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet in adults.
Botox Cosmetic contains tiny amounts of a highly purified protein that is injected into strong muscles, such as frown lines, to help lessen their definition and therefore create softer, more “happy” expression lines. It’s one of the most extensively studied medical aesthetic treatments and it’s the most effective treatment for unwanted lines and wrinkles. It’s safety and efficacy have been evaluated in hundreds of clinical trials as well as in 417 peer-reviewed articles in scientific and medical journals.
Botox is designed to achieve results that appear natural without creating that “frozen” look. That is if it’s injected by an experienced doctor. Our doctor, Steven Jones, has over 17 years of hands-on experience with injections and has treated over 1,000 patients. If you’ve had a bad experience and felt “frozen” or unnatural then Doctor Jones and his gentle cosmetic enhancements might be your saving grace.
Tired of constantly looking angry from those pesky little “11s” that have made their home between your brows? It’s time to say goodbye to the perma-scowl with the help of Botox and Dr. Jones!
Teosyal Dermal Filler
Here at NuAGE Laser & Skin Care, Dr. Jones uses Teosyal, a non-animal source hyaluronic acid filler. This is the first filler of its kind as it respects your facial expressiveness. Suitable for the most mobile areas of your face (perioral area, cheeks, tear trough, crow’s feet, etc.), Teosyal hyaluronic acid filler is resistant to compression and designed to support the skin in every move to maintain vitality and softness.
Teosyal fillers are comprised of gels with high purity that are close to the natural content of hyaluronic acid in the skin. Teosyal Dermal Fillers last longer than other hyaluronic acid fillers on the market and provide a more customized treatment since they come in varying densities to better suit specific areas on the face.
What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a Jello-like carbohydrate that occurs naturally throughout the body. It binds and retains water molecules in order to lubricate movable parts of the body and keep the skin moisturized. Thanks to its unique consistency and tissue-friendliness, it’s beneficial in skin care products. Because HA is one of the most hydrophilic (water-loving) molecules with numerous benefits for the human body, it can be described as “nature’s moisturizer.” When injected into the skin, such as with Teosyal Dermal Filler, it will plump up lost volume and can stimulate the production of collagen.
MOST COMMONLY TREATED AREAS
Many areas of the face can be treated with both Botox and Dermal Fillers, including the forehead, under eye area, crow’s feet, cheeks and cheekbones, nasolabial folds and lips. Injectables are also used for what we refer to as a non-surgical nose job.
- Teosyal Ultra Deep can be used to restore a soft contour across the forehead and fill out deepened lines.
- Botox can be used to minimize muscle activity, thus preventing further expression lines across the forehead.
Under Eye Area | Crow’s Feet
- Teosyal Redensity II can be used for under eye correction in the tear trough to brighten dark circles and restore a rested, rejuvenated appearance.
- Botox may be used around the orbital bones to diminish the appearance and creation of crow’s feet or between the brows to eliminate “11s” and “bunny nose.”
Cheeks and Cheekbones
- Teosyal Ultra Deep may be used to restore lost volume and definition in the cheeks and for volume creation in target areas.
- Teosyal Ultimate can be used to bring back a youthful, full appearance and for volume recovery in large areas.
Nasolabial Folds | Smile Lines
- Teosyal Ultra Deep is effective for restoring lost volume in nasolabial folds or smile lines. Ultra Deep may also be used in marionette lines below the mouth.
- Botox may be injected at the top of nasolabial folds to prevent a “gummy” smile.
- Teosyal Kiss can be used to enhance the size and shape of your lips by reshaping your lip contours, increasing lip volume and rehydrating your lips.
- Teosyal Kiss can also treat wrinkles around the mouth.
Learn About Non Surgical Nose Job
What are Botox and Teosyal?
A: Botox is a neuromodulator administered by injection to temporarily relax the appearance of moderate to severe expression lines on various areas of the face, such as the frown lines.
Teosyal is a non-animal source hyaluronic acid filler that can be injected under the skin to restore volume where natural collagen has been depleted over time.
How long will Botox and Teosyal last?
A: The duration of effects for both Botox and Teosyal are dependant on many factors including age, genetics, severity of the area treated and the desired results.
The effects of Teosyal typically last between six and nine months, however, in some cases, the effects may last for up to one year. Typically, Botox can last from three to nine months depending on the strength of the muscle that is prone to contract.
Are there any negative side effects?
A: Teosyal Dermal Filler is a form of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance in the body. In other words, it’s not a foreign substance. The body will eliminate it over time as it would with other supplements making Dermal Fillers safe.
Botox is a form of muscle relaxant and a temporary cosmetic enhancement tool. Just like medicine, the body will use what it needs and excrete the excess. Over time, the effects of this muscle relaxant will begin to dissolve. If injected incorrectly or by an inexperienced professional, it can over-relax a muscle making it droopy. This is why Dr. Steven Jones, who has more than 17 years of experience, is the ideal doctor for dermal injections.
How do they work?
A: Teosyal works by “filling in” the targeted area to provide a supple fullness and restore a youthful, rejuvenated appearance.
Botox works by temporarily blocking the signal from the nerve to the muscles targeted, ultimately resulting in a reduction of muscle activity and temporarily preventing contraction of the muscle that causes the treated wrinkle.
When will I see results?
A: Results with Teosyal Dermal Filler will be immediate. The target will instantly appear fuller and more defined. There may be a small amount of localized swelling in the treated area which usually subsides within 48-72 hours.
The average Botox patient will see results within three to five days or up to two weeks post injection. However, some patients may see results as soon as 24 hours after administration.
What is the downtime for injectables?
A: There is no major downtime for injectables. Some localized swelling and bruising may occur 24-48 hours after administration but usually subsides within two to three days. Light pinpoint bleeding may also occur at the injection site.
